Chasin High Country Muleys

Brody's 1st Archery Muley

Brody and I spotted this buck with a doe hanging out on a steep finger in the Big Shoe. Knowing it would be very hard to stalk in such dry and steep conditions we began our decent with doubt we could make it happen. Somehow we were able to work our way into shooting distance undetected, well sort of. The doe caught a bit of movement and we had a 15 minute stare down with her fighting off the cramps in our feet. Finally she worked off and the buck stepped forward. Brody made a double lung 50 yard shot and out of view we heard a horrible splat that echoed across the canyon. We carefully work our way through a boulder field and found the buck had died on his feet and fell off a large cliff. Thankfully friends and cousins hiked down and helped haul out the meat.
